Port Lincoln – A Short History

Discovered in 1802 by Matthew Flinders and named after his native county of Lincolnshire, Port Lincoln was once considered as the location for the capitol of South Australia. The first settlers arrived in 1839 and local government was formed in 1880. The population in 1840 was 270 and in 2016 it was 14,064 making it the 9th largest urban centre in South Australia.
